Life of the Party

Wearable Media, 2015

Life of the Party is a social wearable which distills and amplifies extroversion. An accelerometer built into the wrist informs an RGB led on the bodice, with tilt and motion influencing the colour of the costume. A pressure sensor on the same sleeve controls a sequence of additional LEDs that twinkle when pressure is felt. Touching other people or yourself while wearing the piece will directly influence the amount of dazzling light being given off. As the wearer moves through space, their interactions and gestures result in a number of unique visual permutations. This project has applications in the performance art world as well, and was featured in MOTUS at The Button Factory Arts.
